Vocational Education Program

The Baldwin Park Adult and Community Education (BPACE) Vocational Education Program is a model for how to create a school climate that is supportive of student achievement. The program provides individualized attention to students, making activities such as goal setting meaningful and productive. Vocational education teachers and administrators collaborate with all other BPACE programs to ensure that students are aware of, and can take advantage of, all the programs and services BPACE has to offer. The BPACE Vocational Education Program places emphasis on student leadership in classes, which prepares students to take leadership roles in employment. The staff integrates real life vocational needs into program planning. The program encourages peer support by working with student leadership teams that mentor incoming students. Frequent staff and student leadership team meetings ensure that staff and students have input into program planning. The program also offers externships, and with over 100 community collaborations, BPACE is well situated to respond to community needs. The program offers multiple opportunities to celebrate student success including several graduation ceremonies at the end of each semester and wall displays that publicize student success stories.
