The Virginia Department of Health has developed a comprehensive Adult Education Health Literacy Toolkit for downloading and printing. The Toolkit contains sections on the importance of health literacy, teaching health topics, available resources, and addressing teachers’ concerns about teaching health.

EL Civics Health Literacy Curriculum
The Charlottesville City School's Adult Education Program Web site contains an EL Civics Health Literacy curriculum. Of particular note is the unit on informing students of their rights and responsibilities in using the US health care system.
